PRACTICALITIES

Here you’ll find the practical information that helps make your stay at Easy Day simple and relaxed — from getting here and parking in Sadernes to facilities, what to bring, and how life at the house and campsite works.

Easy Day is located at Pont de Valentí, in the heart of the Sant Aniol Valley, within a protected natural area. Because of this, arriving here is a little different from arriving at an ordinary rural house or retreat venue, and a little preparation in advance makes all the difference.

ARRIVING

GETTING HERE

Easy Day is located at Pont de Valentí in the Sant Aniol Valley, in the Alta Garrotxa Natural Park.

You can usually arrive:

  • by car via Sadernes
  • by bus to ‘Montagut Cruïlla’ with TEISA bus
  • by train via Girona or Figueres train station, with onward transfer if needed. Excellent high-speed connections with AVE.
  • by plane via Girona or Barcelona, with onward travel by car, bus or train

For some stays and programmes, the final part of the arrival is on foot.

In these cases:

  • the walk into the valley is around 3 km
  • luggage can often be transferred separately
  • guests usually only need to carry a small backpack

Exact arrival details are always shared in advance for each stay or programme.

PARKING, ACCESS & PERMITS

As Easy Day is located within a protected natural area, access by car is limited.

For most visits:

  • guests park in Sadernes
  • and continue on foot into the valley
  • during weekends, holiday periods, public holidays and parts of the summer season, parking in Sadernes often requires an online reservation in advance
  • the reservation is made online and guests should keep their QR code ready, as mobile coverage in the area is limited

At busy times, there are sometimes access controls before Sadernes, occasionally already in Montagut. If you are staying with Easy Day, it is usually enough to say that you have a booking or are expected here.

Where vehicle access permits are available:

  • these are limited
  • and need to be coordinated beforehand
  • they should never be assumed without prior confirmation

For stays in the apartment, access by car is usually possible and a parking permit is often provided separately. If this is not the case, guests should park in Sadernes and make the usual online reservation.

If your group is arriving with several cars, we may ask you to:

  • car-share where possible
  • or park outside the valley and continue together

WALKING IN & LUGGAGE TRANSFER

For many stays and programmes, the final part of the arrival is on foot.

From Sadernes, the walk into the valley to Pont de Valentí is around 3 km and usually takes about 30 minutes, depending on pace and luggage.

For arrivals that involve walking in:

  • guests should come prepared to walk
  • suitable shoes are recommended
  • a small backpack is useful for water, layers and personal essentials

Where needed, we can often organise luggage transfer, so that guests only need to carry what they need for the walk.

Guests who have limited mobility, are injured, or may find the walk difficult are welcome to let us know in advance. In many cases, we can also help with a transfer when luggage is being brought in.

For some programmes, the walk into the valley is already part of the arrival experience and the beginning of the time together. Once at the house, groups are often welcomed with a short orientation tour and some refreshments before settling in.

BEING HERE

FOOD, KITCHEN & COOKING

Food is an important part of life at Easy Day.

For retreats and organised programmes:

  • meals are usually provided
  • food is prepared with care

  • and is based, whenever possible, on fresh, local, organic and mainly vegetarian ingredients

For private stays and smaller gatherings:

  • cooking arrangements may vary depending on the booking
  • guests may have access to their own kitchen, a shared kitchen, or simple outdoor cooking areas

Where shared kitchen areas are available:

  • their use may need to be coordinated with other guests
  • or with the needs of a programme taking place at the house

No meat on the land

As a nature-based learning and retreat centre, Easy Day encourages a way of being here that is rooted in care, attention and respect for life. In that spirit, we ask guests not to bring, cook or consume meat on the land. Fish is welcome.

DIGITAL DISCONNECTION

There is generally no mobile phone coverage in the valley. This is one of the quiet gifts of being here. People are less drawn into devices, and more able to settle into the place, into themselves, and into direct experience.

Easy Day does have satellite internet, but bandwidth is limited and is needed for the work of the house. For this reason, it is not offered as regular guest wifi in the usual way.

Over time, we have chosen to protect the offline culture here, because so many people have told us how valuable this has been for them. Even young participants who at first found it challenging have often later said that it felt exactly right.

  • For guests of the apartment, wifi is available
  • For retreats, group programmes, glamping and camping stays, digital disconnection is normally part of the experience, and wifi is generally kept for organisers and essential coordination only

If you are planning to come here in order to work online from the valley — especially from glamping or camping — please speak with us about this in advance rather than assuming internet access will be available.

Where needed, participants can be in touch with family through the organiser, and family members can also reach participants in the case of an emergency via the organiser or via Easy Day.

We encourage guests to communicate clearly with family, loved ones and work before arriving, so that they can settle here more fully and feel at ease being offline for a while.

SHOWERS, TOILETS, ELECTRICITY & WATER

Facilities vary slightly depending on where you are staying.

For guests staying in the main house or apartment, there are normal showers and flushing toilets.

In the camping and glamping areas, facilities are more outdoor-based and close to nature. These areas have bucket showers with hot water, dry toilets, and drinking water.

In the warmer months, many guests also enjoy the river for a refreshing wash or swim.

There is generally no electricity or lighting in the campsite and glamping area, so guests should bring a head torch. Guests who need to charge phones or other small devices can usually do so at the house.

Please drink water only from the designated drinking water tap or point provided.

LIFE AT EASY DAY

Easy Day is not a hotel, but a lived and shared place. Guests and groups quickly become part of the rhythm of the house.

We ask everyone who stays here to help care for the place by:

  • washing their own dishes where appropriate
  • keeping shared spaces tidy
  • treating the house, campsite and valley with respect
  • helping with small practical things when needed
  • observing the house guidelines, including any agreed quiet hours and shared arrangements around noise, music and evening conversation

This shared participation creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that many people value.

Some agreements may vary slightly depending on the group, the season or the type of stay, and where needed they can always be spoken about and adjusted together.

IMPORTANT PRACTICAL NOTES

SAFETY, CHILDREN & THE RIVER, FIRE RISK

Easy Day is set in a natural environment. We ask all guests to move through the place with care and to keep the following points clearly in mind:

  • Uneven ground and no outdoor lighting at night
The land around the house is uneven, and there is no lighting outside at night. Please move mindfully and always keep a light at hand after dark — ideally a head torch, or at least a phone torch.
  • Children and the river
The river is right next to the house. For small children who do not yet swim confidently, the risk of drowning is extremely high. Children must therefore be supervised closely at all times near the water.
  • Fire risk
During dry periods, fire risk in the valley is very real. No candles are allowed in the camping area, and cigarettes must be handled with extreme care and fully extinguished. Open fire is only ever permitted where clearly agreed and designated by Easy Day.
  • Drinking water
Please drink water only from the designated drinking water points. Water at the bathroom area is not for drinking.

WHAT TO BRING

What to bring depends partly on the season and on the type of stay, but in general we recommend:

  • a small backpack
  • walking shoes or trainers suitable for uneven ground
  • a second pair of shoes or sandals, especially if one pair may get wet
  • comfortable clothes for warm and cool conditions
  • layers for evenings and changing weather
  • a waterproof jacket
  • swimwear
  • a towel and toiletries
  • a head torch
  • sun protection
  • any personal medication

For camping or glamping stays, guests may also need:

  • a sleeping bag
  • a pillow
  • a fitted sheet for a single mattress, if requested
  • any personal camping items not otherwise provided

More specific packing guidance is always shared in advance where needed.
